München / Munich (15-17.7)

It took 14h sweaty hours in a bus to get to Munich from Paris but It was worth it. It was like I had returned home. Being quite expensive Munich may not be the best place for backpackers but there's also lots of things to see in nearby areas and in my opinion Bavaria has the best landscape in Germany.

This was really weird stuff :D

It's a catfish!

First thing I did in Munich was to give a call to my friend from Finland who used to live there back in the days (all though I didn't remember that) and ask him for some hint/tips. The best tip was to go in to a beer garden and just start talking with somebody local. That's what I did. Ate some chicken, had a beer and asked a nice looking couple "excuse me, you don't happen to be local?" Muahha. Basically my next week was planned after a couple of beers including mountains, lakes, castles and a concentration camp.

Also got the best guess for my age so far, 27! Ok, since then I'm all ready been 25 once ;) Wuhuuu! It's usually around 29 but 27 is nice. My last longer trip was three years ago and then people guessed somewhere around 28/29. So it seems that I'm getting younger and younger. It must bee the cucumber mask that I use every night.

One interesting observation: There was a huge number of street musicians in Munich and there was always some people listening them. One night I went pass two really different kind of acts. The other one was a young dude singing with weird mid eval-ish instrument which he played quite well. No listeners. The other was a nice looking lady with guitar. It was ok but nothing amazing. Loads of people and one marriage proposal from a drunken bypasser. I rest my case!

Lake Starnberg near Munich. In the background, mountains

This is the way to live on lakeside.

Lake Starnberg

Nice, little, summerhouse.

Doggy likes birdies.

Panorama from Munich olympic stadium.

No, this is not from Berlin.

I tried to cast my hand away.

Imagine 1972 and the summer olympics. This ticket sales
booth sold some serious tickets!

Roasted pork knee with fresh bun. Yay! Happy days.

It's schnitzel time in Hofbrauhaus. The biggest tourist
restaurant in whole Munich.
